The internet is sometimes a great method to keep in contact with house, when travelling especially for a protracted time. Nowadays all this can be achieved through tablet computer or a good phone than hauling a big notebook around with you, which makes it much more practical.
However there are issues for travellers, which you frequently find when you first attempt and connect back to a site you usually use at home. For me it happened first with the media website called Hulu when I was spending a few months working in Europe. A Simpsons enthusiast, I had long relied on this particular website to keep up thus far with my favourite show – even investing in a premium subscription. Unfortunately I found i wasn’t unable to use Hulu. Slowly other websites which did the same thing, NBC, HBO, Pandora and my online banking did not work because it suspected online fraud were found by me!
A little research revealed this was a tremendous dilemma that impacted millions of people all across the world. Slowly the net has been divided into small parts accessible to some and blocked to others. Even global sites like Netflix offer catalogues that are different that are whole based on your place (the US one is the best!). All they do is look up your IP address and use your exact location to be worked out by this.
